California Superior Court Weighs in on the Search for Sean SIDI

Summary:   Given CALIFORNIA Superior Court's recent ORDER re: Sean, we are seeking INPUT from those with contacts or familiarity with hospitals and/or psychiatric facilities (anywhere in the U.S.), to help us ascertain the right persons/department to send the COURT ORDER & Sean's flier.......See details below.

Dear Friends,

 

As most of you know, Sean suffered a serious brain injury a few months before he went missing on May 21, 2013. If Sean is alive, it is very likely he accessed (or will access) medical care. However, it is also likely that HIPPA privacy laws would prevent hospitals from contacting us and/or releasing information. **** See real-life story of another family below.

 

Recognizing Sean's fragility, the California Superior COURT in San Francisco recently issued a VERY unusual ORDER which sidesteps HIPPA & authorizes health care providers that have treated SEAN - to RELEASE Sean's medical information (including any information indicating he has recently been treated) to Lynn, his mother. The order will also allow us to speak with Sean's doctors & plan a course of care before & after Sean is located. 

 

In an attempt to LOCATE Sean, we intend to send Sean's FLIER & the COURT's ORDER TO MEDICAL & PSYCHIATRIC FACILITIES across the U.S., starting with CALIFORNIA. 

 

HOWEVER, the BIG CHALLENGE is routing the COURT ORDER to the RIGHT PERSON or department at the medical facility who will check whether Sean previously accessed medical care AND who will RED FLAG Sean's name (or any John Doe matching his description), in the event that Sean LATER accesses medical care. (Sean does have very good medical insurance.)

 

If you have experience working with  hospitals and/or any psychiatric clinic system, county or private, we would greatly appreciate your input, feedback, and guidance in this matter.

Search for Sean SIDI alive in OREGON July 2014

Michal and husband Jan REPORTED that the search for SEAN SIDI is very much alive in Portland OREGON. This week, they stopped at the POLICE STATION and the UNION GOSPEL MISSION IN CHINATOWN (Portland, OR) to post Sean’s flier, but to their surprise, Sean’s FLIER was already UP!!! (THANKS to some of YOU!!!) 

Michal wrote, "In BOTH places, Sean's flier was IMMEDIATELY recognized." THANK YOU Michal, & JAN FOR posting SEAN’S FLIER in Whole Foods, Starbucks and other areas in Portland!!

Below are pictures of Lily, who together with her mom, posted Sean’s flier at U of Oregon, & businesses in Eugene. They also handed them to the pubic, updated the flier at the Sheriff’s office and providing Sean’s flier to organizations in Eugene providing services to the homeless. Lily and her mom spoke to many people – and 3 people claimed to have recognized Sean. I will be following up with 1 person (who had a phone) tomorrow. Lily obtained helpful information from those working at Eugene Mission regarding places providing medical care and dining services (not always easy to locate on the internet) to the homeless. I will follow up and report back. 

Thank you LILY and Lily’s mom for HELPING us KEEP THE SEARCH for Sean ALIVE. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT Sean’s chances of being located are much increased with “boots on the ground”!!

SEARCH FOR SEAN SIDI SEEKING THOSE WHO WORK IN HOSPITALS, MENTAL HEALTH CLINICS AND/OR LOW INCOME DENTAL CLINICS.

The search for Sean continues without pause. Many volunteers in and out of San Francisco are assisting with our mass mailing campaign to shelters and soup kitchens across the U.S. Others are KEEPING SEAN'S FLIERS POSTED in locations on their weekly route until SEAN IS FOUND. So many of you are also posting Sean's in other parts of California and out of state. All leads are being followed up on.

Our next goal is to get Sean's MISSING PERSON FLIER to all HOSPITALS, DENTAL CLINICS (for homeless/poor), and MENTAL HEALTH CLINICS across the UNITED STATES. WE ARE SEEKING VOLUNTEERS WHO MAY WORK AT A HOSPITAL, DENTAL OR MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC ANYWHERE IN THE U.S., willing to HELP POST SEAN'S FLIER IN THE STAFF BREAK ROOM & HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM. More than 5 months have passed since Sean vanished on May 21, 2013. However, we remain hopeful that we will see Sean safe, one day soon.
