California Superior Court Weighs in on the Search for Sean SIDI

Summary:   Given CALIFORNIA Superior Court's recent ORDER re: Sean, we are seeking INPUT from those with contacts or familiarity with hospitals and/or psychiatric facilities (anywhere in the U.S.), to help us ascertain the right persons/department to send the COURT ORDER & Sean's flier.......See details below.

                                             *******

Dear Friends,

As most of you know, Sean suffered a serious brain injury a few months before he went missing on May 21, 2013. If Sean is alive, it is very likely he accessed (or will access) medical care. However, it is also likely that HIPPA privacy laws would prevent hospitals from contacting us and/or releasing information. **** See real-life story of another family below.

Recognizing Sean's fragility, the California Superior COURT in San Francisco recently issued a VERY unusual ORDER which sidesteps HIPPA & authorizes health care providers that have treated SEAN - to RELEASE Sean's medical information (including any information indicating he has recently been treated) to Lynn, his mother. The order will also allow us to speak with Sean's doctors & plan a course of care before & after Sean is located.

In an attempt to LOCATE Sean, we intend to send Sean's FLIER & the COURT's ORDER TO MEDICAL & PSYCHIATRIC FACILITIES across the U.S., starting with CALIFORNIA.

HOWEVER, the BIG CHALLENGE is routing the COURT ORDER to the RIGHT PERSON or department at the medical facility who will check whether Sean previously accessed medical care AND who will RED FLAG Sean's name (or any John Doe matching his description), in the event that Sean LATER accesses medical care. (Sean does have very good medical insurance.)

If you have experience working with  hospitals and/or any psychiatric clinic system, county or private, we would greatly appreciate your input, feedback, and guidance in this matter.

Please email lynnkching@yahoo.com.

Thank you ALL!
The SIDI FAMILY

****Many other families searching for loved ones - face this problem with the HIPPA privacy laws. See https://www.facebook.com/MissingJasonDealba?fref=ts for one real life story,  Jason was recently found in San Diego, 2 years after going missing from ILL.   Jason's mom posts about specific issues related to the HIPPA laws when trying to advocate for her son's care.

From Captain Ed Santos of SFPD at Sean SIDI's 2 Year Vigil on May 16, 2015

Good Afternoon.

My name is Ed Santos Jr. I am the Officer-in-charge of the Special Victims Unit of the San Francisco Police Department.

First I want to acknowledge Sean’s family and thank them for allowing me to be here on this two-year anniversary.

Two years ago Sean disappeared here in San Francisco.

A disappearance that has been difficult to understand,

A disappearance that has been difficult to resolve.

Every day in this world a loved one disappears.

Some are found quickly, and some are found much later.

Locating a missing person is a difficult and challenging task, but not impossible.

To find someone, it takes a huge effort along with teamwork

Law enforcement officers are not always the one who locate a missing loved one.

It’s often people who continue in their efforts that reach out as far as their message is received.

Sean’s mother, Lynn Ching has been relentless in her search for Sean and has never given up hope of finding him.

Not long ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Ching. I had just become the officer in charge of the Special Victims Unit.

In the few moments of meeting and speaking with her, I could feel her love for Sean and the pain she felt missing him.

Being a father and recognizing the importance of family, I told Lynn that the Missing Persons Unit would reexamine Sean’s case as well as explore other avenues of investigation.

When Lynn left the Special Victims Unit, little did she know of the admiration and respect that I had for her and her family.

In an effort to finding Sean, I ask the media to send Sean’s story as far across this nation and across this world. The media is a very powerful resource.

I ask people who here today, friends and family to use the power of social media to spread the word about Sean’s disappearance.

Using every tool and resource that we have to find Sean is important.

It can be one picture, it can be one word.

I have hopes that Sean will be found, everything is possible.

In closing,

I want to thank the Sidi family for not giving up hope in their search for Sean.

I want to thank those who have called law enforcement with possible sightings of Sean.

I want to thank those who have carried the message of Sean disappearance to places that we could not reach.

And I want to thank the media for helping to get this message into the eyes and ears of people across the world.

And lastly, I want to thank Lynn and her family for giving me the opportunity to speak at this wonderful gathering, your family has the support of the SFPD and our efforts will continue until Sean is found.

Thank you….

[Capt. Ed Santos]

Missing Jason DeAlba & SEAN SIDI

We have been following Jason DeAlba's story for the past week. Jason had been missing from ILLINOIS since February 2013. He was found in San Diego 2 weeks ago. His mom Kathleen flew from Illinois to San Diego to help secure long term mental health care for Jason. It has been an uphill battle for Kathleen due to HIPPA privacy laws...A judge will decide this week whether Jason can be held for medical care.   Apparently we all have a "right" to be psychotic and homeless on the streets, EVEN if we are not in a frame of mind to recognize that we are very ILL & need help.

See https://www.facebook.com/MissingJasonDealba?fref=ts for the story.

Please help if you can.

We realize that this could very well be Sean's situation: LOST with NO MEMORY, NOT KNOWING that we ARE SEARCHING for HIM & IN DIRE NEED of MEDICAL CARE.

As such, we recently petitioned San Francisco Superior Court. STORY Next.
